Established in 2004 as Southern Mining Electrical Contractors, SMEC has grown into one of Australia’s premium providers of power solutions, supplying projects in 21 countries across four continents, serving more than 220 sites globally, with more than 100,000 units sold. Acquired in March 2026, SMEC brings a dominant position in underground mining electrical infrastructure and an established international export channel, opening new growth vectors for the Mayfield Group. Operating from its manufacturing facility in Bibra Lake, Western Australia, with service operations in Kalgoorlie through its Goldfields Rewinds partner business, SMEC is led by founder and Managing Director Martin Law.
